Fifteenth Regnellian Expedition
BAHIA: Municipio Santa Cruz Cabralia, area of the Estacao
Ecologica Pau-brasil (ESPAB), near km 16 of the Porto Seguro-
Eunapolis road (BR-367), along jeep track to Corrego do
Roncador, level ground on siliceous-clayey soil.
Growing in clumps of 5-15 shoots, scattered throughout forest
but taller and more abundant and more richly flowering along
jeep track. To 2 m total height, with 1-2 basal leaves, syn-
florescence peduncle to 1.5 m. Leaf sheath to c. 30 cm, petiole
to 150 cm; leaf blade thinly but firmly chartaceous ("Monotagma
texture"), rather dark green on both sides. Flowers only 1-2
on any one plant, no fruits seen in the whole population. Sepals
pale green, corolla and staminodes very pale lavender, callose
staminode with purplish spot on inside near tip.
