WISCONSIN, Price Co., 12.5 km. (by air) NE of Park Falls,
Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest, along old,
overgrown trail from Forest Road 643 to outlet of Hay
Lake.
45°58’37”N, 90°17’44”W. alt. 467 m.
T 40 N; R 1 E; NE% sect. 1.
Stand of Pinus resinosa with understory of young Abies
balsamea, Corylus cornuta, Prunus pensylvanica.
Shrub 2.5 m. tall, the largest stems 1.7 cm. in diameter and
6 years old, forming a loose clump. Voucher for wood
specimens at Kw, Lw, MADw, MEXUw, RSAw. Fruiting
involucre green, rather few and this is a common species
here.
