e\w yon BOTANICAL PARDEE 03188849 U.S.A. Aceraceae Acer ginnala Maxim, det. M. Nee, 2016 WISCONSIN, Iowa Co., 6.5 km. E of center of Muscoda.. 43°11’26”N, 90°21’44”W. alt. 211 m. T 8 N; R 1 E; NEV^NW1/* sect. 10. Old field, grassy (European cool season grasses, Poa, Agropyron repens) but without any native prairie plants, slightly rolling, sandy terrace above Wisconsin River floodplain. Evidently an old habitation site, with a few Syringa vulgaris, Salix “weeping willow”, Acer ginnala, with more recent plantings of Caragana arborescens, Viburnum tantana, Corylus americana, Physocarpus opulifolius along edge of Pinus resinosa plantation. Several stems in a tight clump, 3.5 m. tall, to 5.5 cm. in diameter. Sapwood pale, the heartwood a slightly darker tan. Voucher for wood specimens at Kw, Lw, MADw, MEXUw, RSAw. Flowers inconspicuous, pale greenish. No evidence that this species becoming spontaneous here. Coll.: M. Nee 62962 24 May 2016 Missouri Botanical Garden (MO) 03188849
