Red sandstone slopes and cliffs with scattered Pinus ponderosa,
Juniperus osteosperma, Artemisia tridentata tridentata, Oryzopsis
hymenoides, Stipa cornata, Purshia tridentata. Sandy, gravelly soil
with Penstemon caespitosus var. desertipicti.
Occasional to common. Taprooted per. herb. Rays yellow. Pappus
of scales, no bristles.
