In sandstone-derived soil on E-facing slope with Juniperus.
Artemisia & Purshia. Herbaceous perennials; lower leaves +
pannose with dendritic hairs, sporadically denticulate, to 6 mm
wide; most caullne leaves auriculate; petals lavender, to 6 mm
long; pollen + irregular, the functional grains mostly narrowly
ellipsoid & formed in tetrads; fruiting pedicels ascending; mature
fruits arcuate, to 50 mm long & 1.75 mm wide; seeds uniseriate.
