    Mexico. Puebla. (On Puebla border): SW slopes of Volcán Ixtaccíhuatl: along N side of Hwy. 451 just below (W of) Parque Ixtapopo entrance, 2 km W of road jct. at Paso de Cortés.

  • Habitat

    Understory on peaty mulch overlying gritty black volcanic ash: b) wet, slightly mucky, sedgey mossy turf in bed of rivulet in head of samll ravine, with Carex angustior, C. tuberculata, C. volcanica, C. hermannii, Luzula caricina, Epilobium ciliatum, Prunella vulgaris, and Mimulus glabratus. Subalpine Pinus hartwegii forest with tussock-grass (Festuca tolucensis dominant).

  • Description

    Culms solitary, very low, smooth; leaves short, pale green, lightly glaucous; bracts leaflike; perigynia small, conspicuously stipitate, nerved at maturity. (All spikelets submature or only flowering.). Phenology of specimen: Flower.
