Prov. Puntarenas: Ca. 25km NE of San Vito. LasAlturas
Biological Station. Elev. 1540m. Hemiepiphytic tree 9m x
15cm dia, branches to 6m long. Floral bracts green, both
pairs tightly covering hypanthium; petals white, some
flushed pink abaxially, not overlapping at anthesis;
filaments white, anthers free, yellow, connective
appendages white, the stamens in a semi-circle opposite
the greenish-white, slightly curving style. Flowers emitting
a fairly strong and unpleasant musky-moldy fragrance
(very similar to B. wilsoniorum) at 0900-1 OOOh. Galls on
nodes and leaves. Infrequent.
