Itatiaia, planalto, alt. ca. 2300 m. 6 Nov 1965 400 m NW of shelter house, "Abrigo de Rebousas”, along road. (The planalto is a steep hilly terrain, many hills topped with large outcrops of sienite quartz. Hillsides with frequent rounded outcropping quartz rocks & boulders, and a shallow, black, almost pure humus soil supporting a periodically-burned natural tussock sedge^grassland with scattered low Chusquea bamboo & occasionally other shrubs. Valley sides often with dense Chusquea brakes and brooks lined with a marsh of Cladium in tussocks or the tussock raised on a "trunk"of massed rhizomes.)
