Along the rim of the lake in sandy soil Hesperopeuce Mer-
tensiana occurs almost exclusively, there being a few trees of Pinus
albicaulis on the crest of the rim. There are practically no un-
dershrubs. except infrequent clumps of elder and prostrate mats
of Ribes erythrocarpum.
