Open, rocky peak at subalpine zone. Growing between rocks on north slope and ridgetop. With Xerophyllum tenax, Douglasia montana, Vaccinium myritillus, Pinus albicaulis and Vaccinium scoparium. Stoney Belt Series rocks.
