stouter shrubs such as Acacia rigidula; common in medium-
stature thorn shrubland on gravelly saline clay soils
(Catarina Series), on moderate slope underlain by Catahoula
and Frio formations undivided, just E of W fenceline on Las
Estrellas Preserve, ca. 8 mi NW of jet. US 83 and F. M. 755
in downtown Rio Grande City, at N26°28’30.r’,
W098°53’09.0” Roma-Los Saenz East Quadrangle. Elev.
290 ft.
Associates included Acacia rigidula, A. berlandieri, Billietumera helleri,
Bouteloua trifida, Castela erecta, Cynanchum maccartii, Echinocereus
reichenbachii var. fitchii, Guaiacum angustifolium, Hibiscus martianus,
Hilaria belangeri, Jatropha cathartica, Karwmskia humboldtiana, Krameria
ramosissima, Lippia graveolens, Opuntia leptocaulis, O. lindheimeri,
Panicum helleri, Phaulothamnus spinescens, Polygala glandulosa,
Prosopis reptans, Sporobolus wrightii, Thelocactus bicolor, Varilla texana,
