Forming white or yellowish masses; filaments encrusted with crystals of
gypsum; cells 10-20 mic. in diameter, twice as long as wide, after
division equalling in length the diameter; cell contents granular, color-
less; cell membrane thick.
Lying near vent of spring. Temperature 66°.
Norris Geyser Basin. Yellowstone National Park.
J. E. T. 27 Je 1896.
This plant likewise differs from the species in having a narrow filament.
Little spiny or lobed masses of gypsum, a centimeter in thickness, are
found entwined with the threads.
