In rocky (sandstone) soil on W-facing slope with Pinus, Juniperus,
Ephedra & Yucca. Caespitose perennials; leaves mostly basal ,
with a small, mucronate tip, minutely scabrous-tuberculate near
margins, otherwise glabrous, + shiny-resinous; flowering stems &
involucres resinous, glabrous; phyllaries obtuse, green only at the
thickened tip, the midvein obscure; ray florets with yellow ligules.
