Elev. 7550 ft. In rocky (Park City Formation) soil S-facing slope with Artemisia & various grasses. Caespitose perennials; leaves mostly basal, with scabrid margins & pungent, mucronate tips, obscurely shiny- resinous; herbage & involucres slightly glandular; phyllaries acute, uniform in thickness, green except for the margins, the midvein + prominent; ray florets pistillate, with yellow ligules; pappus of numerous, antrorsely barbellate bristles; cypselae sericeous.
