Aniaas Valley; in the SE-angle of the intersection of I— JO and
NH-338 highway, 15 ai N of Cotton City (Northcentral T24S
R20H); extreaely saline soil (this is the extreae N end of a
large playa lake extending about 10 ai North and South). This
plant Has growing in saturated saline, clayey soil. Large
accuaulations of water wer present with 10 feet of the plants.
This growth-fora (perennial) was not coaaon in the area.
Nuaerous plants of this species appearing as annuals or short-
lived perennials were present for about 5 ai to the S of 1-10
along NH-338. Three plants were seen like this this one that
had nuaerous sprawling branches froa the base. Each speciaen
is about 1/10 of the plant, and all specisens were aade froa
the saiiE-plant. Ray.itnrpts were hlue bluer lavender«.
Associated plants were Atriplex canescens, Suaeda and other
chenopods. Elevation 4300 ft.
