Dear Dr* Welch*
Tour letter of January 26 and the specimens of Drac©-
cephalum have been received« X have looked over the speci-
mens and. written to Dr. Beam about them« They are as they
have been determined, ?with the exceptiaa; that if the generic
name Dracoce-phaltnn is accepted for the species of Phvsostegia«.
then Dracocephalmn r>a.rvifloiran Stitt* should be known as Mol-
davica parviflora (Butt#) Britton# When I was working over
Phvsostegia recently Dr# Carl Bpling helped with the nomen*
clature, and it was decided that Linnaeus * name Dracocephalum
applied to D* virginianom and its related species, which were
later called Phvsosteaia by Bentham# Britton and Brown in
and Moldavica
the Flora of the Northeastern States use Dracocephalum1 in
this sense# I have,, therefere, annotated your specimens as
n -narviflura (lutt.i Britton.
I shaLl return your specimens on Monday* Thank you very
much for sending them over#
Sincerely yours,
Elizabeth Me Clin to dk
