02926733 HERBARIUM OF THE NEW YORK BOTANICAL GARDEN Plants of MEXICO Zexmenia brevifolia A. Gray CHIHUAHUA: In gravelly soil in thorn-scrub desert ca 7 km north of Carmargo. Elevation ca 1300 m. Much-branched shrubs up to about 8 dm tall. Heads yellow; rays (9-) 11-15 (16), 6-9 mm long. Achenes radially compressed, wing-margined, the wings rounded-auriculate at the summit. Pappus a pair of awn-scales, distinct from the wings, and some inter- mediate short scales. Arthur Cronquist 11722 26 September 1980
