Distribution
Confusion exists concerning the type of Brazoria scutellarioides because (1) most of Lindheimer's handwritten collection labels were discarded upon preparation of the sequence labels and the mounting by Engelmann and Gray of his specimens as "Flora Texana Exsiccatae" in fascicles, and (2) the sequence labels on the B^ scutellarioides and B. truncata specimens were reversed from the sequence published in FTantae Lindheimerianae. The descriptions clearly do not fit the specimens. Three specimens of B. scutellarioides at MO retain Lind- heimer's labels and suggest thât he collected every specimen at a different location.- Since Gray worked on Lindheimer's gamopetaly at GH, thêsspecimen there was the most likely one collected at Cat Spring, Texas (as cited in PI. Lind,) and examined by him. T!. t-W* l*\ Roger W. Sanders 1977 Flora Texânà exsiccata. The University of Texas Herbaria Bragoria truncata (Benth.)
