Spontaneous garden hybrid between cultivated
A. foeniculum, a native of central N. Am.
(source: wild plant from Polk Co., Wlfcxf. Coch-
rane & Cochrane 8975) , and A. irugosum, a native
of e. Asia, the only non-Am. Agastache (source:
purchased plant from a nursery; cf. Cochrane &
Cochrane 12,525-a, 12,525-b).

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION FOR AGASTACHE 12,526:
Perennial, without i^Lzomes; stems branched,
esp. above, 1.18-1.54m tall, 8-14mm in diam.
at base, longer branches overtopping lead stem
by up to 10.1 cm; spikes cylindric, 13.4-19.6 cm
long X 1.8-2.6 cm thick (terminal one) , 11.1-
15.3 cm long X 1.7-2.5 mm thick (terminal ones on
lateral branches) , or 4.0-8.2 cm long X 1.4-1.9
cm thick (lateral ones on branches) , somewhat
interrupted at base (lowest two verticils sepa-
rated by 11-44 (mostly 15-35) mm) . Flowering
until after frost, not setting fruit. Stems
slightly taller and stouter than those of A^.
rugosa; leaves intermediate between those of
the parents in texture, color, and prominence
of veins; inflorescences more slender (aver-
aging longer) and less evenly spicate, mostly
4.7-8.0 times as long as thick (versus 3.3-4.8
times as long as thick inA. rugosa) ; calyx lobes
and corolla slightly paler in color than, in JL.
rugosa.
