Rosaceae Rubus ursinus Chamisso & Schlechtendal [Functionally pistillate plant.] Lower BROWN'S GULCH: just W of the San Gabriel Dam. TIN R9W, NE/4 NW/4 section 6; elevation ca. 1520 feet. Mesic riparian margin in dappled shade of Acer macrophyllum and Umbellularia californica\ also associated with Artemisia douglasiana and Ageratina adenophora. Rhizomatous, suffrutescent perennial with scandent and sprawling canes ca 2-4 m in length; this clone with white ± obovate petals and fruit-bearing; growing amid a preponderance of functionally staminate clones (petals white, ± oblong-elliptic and slightly longer), not bearing fruit.
