Whitehead, 4 JUL 1977, FPNW FREMONT CO. Site 18. Reas Pass Creek and Meadow Creek Road; Elevation 1950m. Clearcuts, roadsides, meadows, open woods, and streambanks. T14N R44E SI 1 NE 1/4 III 44.55262° N -111.22839° W [WGS84] ± 500 m. <estimate from BioGeomancer> The nonrhizomatous versus rhizomatous distinction between P. palustris and P. pratensis can be confusing. I have found that, for my area at least, the character of inflorescence of P. palustris is generally about 17 cm, the shortest measurement I have made being 14.5 cm. By contrast, P. pratensis averages about 8 cm, the longest measurement being 13 cm. Voucher: Whitehead, G.S. 1983. M.S., Idaho State U. Associated with Cirsium arvense, Aster chilensis, and Potentilla biennis; or with Populus trichocarpa, Salix spp., and Solidago missouriensis. Gordon S. Whitehead 1116 4 JUL 1977 POACEAE 02886879
