ROSACEAE Low plant, locally abundant, stems long-creeping & tip- rooting, root-suckers common, young stems glaucous; petals white, flowers apparently female or bisexual, fruit rare or when present with 1 large carpel only. On a semi-shady road embankment & high bank of a creek, in calcareous loam mixed with road gravel (Genesee silt loam; fine-loamy, mixed, superactive, mesic Fluventic Eutrudepts). Growing with Acalypha sp., Acer negundo, Agrostis sp., Dactylis glomerata, Fragaria virginica, Fraxinus americana, Galium sp., Geum canadense, Juglans nigra, Linaria vulgaris, Lonicera x bella, Oxalis sp., Parthenocissus quinquefolia, Physocarpus opulifolius, Plantago lanceolata, Rhus typhina, Rubus occidentalis, Satureja vulgaris, Solidago canadensis, Symphyotrichum prenanthoides, Taraxacum officinale, Ulmus I americana, U. rubra, & Vitis sp. Along the W side of Salmon | Creek Rd., above Salmon Creek, about O.lmi S. of the intersection with Lockerby Hill Rd. Lansing, Tompkins Co.
