In sandy, igneous soil at disturbed roadside with Larrea. Atriplex &
Sphaeralcea. Annual to 60 cm tall; herbage hirsute with long,
whitish hairs & an understory of yellowish glands; receptacle
paleaceous, the bracts enfolding the flattened ovaries; phyllaries
acute, ciliate; ray florets yellow; pappus of 2 stiff awns. Elev. 5 ft.
