Near site of proposed EcuaCorriente copper mine. Dense, wet cloud forest on steep slopes on substrate of mixed sandstone and clay soil. Dwarf forest on exposed ridges with higher quartzite sand content. 03°3V43"S 78°26 ' 07 "W 1320 m Tree to 15 m tall, 25 cm DBH. Very common on mixed sand-clay soil at this site. Sympodial branching.
