HORRY CO.: about 6 km (3.6 mi) south of Socastee (junc-
tion of SC routes 544 and 707); level savannah dominated by
Ctenium aromaticum, Ilex glabra, Myrcia cerifera, Quercus pumila,
Rhynchospora chapmanii, Pinus palustris, Panicum wrightianum;
elev. about 10 m (30 ft).
Soil: A layer 22 cm, black sandy humus; B, layer 18 cm, yellow
sand; Ba layer 30 cm, blue impermeable clay.
