Description
Pileus 6.5-7 cm broad, convex to plano-convex, dry, with matted, fine areolate with very short flattened squamules, dark gray to nearly black, with sterile continuous margin (not hanging appendiculate). Flesh white, slowly reddish orange, then black with mild odor. Tubes adnexed light gray, staining red then black, with pores light gray staining red then black. Stipe 7-8 cm long, 1-2 cm broad, equal, dry, with felty gray veil material over a light gray reticulate surface, black toward base, with interior drak gray to black, staining dull red then black.
