The name was never published. The species
was never recognized by anyone. G. N. Jones
(Taxonomy of American species of linden {Tilia),
Illinois Biol. Stud. 39: 85,1968) called this specimen
Tilia caroliniana Mill.
Tilia pallida Wierbz. ex Rchb, Ic. FI. Germ. vi:58,
t. 513 precluded the use of T. pallida for any other
species in the genus.
