Habitat
Waste ground behind main house of fazenda, in shade of large leguminous tree. Poor soil, reddish-brown fine sand with a little clay. Originally cerrado vegetation. Campo cerrado on upland (or occasionally forest). Open marsh or dense secondary forest along streams.

Description
Spreading herb 1-3ft. tall. Recurved petals light purple; anthers yellow. Phenology of specimen: Flower.
