Georeferencing Method
Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Georeferenced to the closest forest area to the approximate geographic center of the beach named "Praia da Costa", along the eastern shore of the city of Vitoria, in the state of Espírito Santo. Using Wikimapia, located Praia da Costa, and verified its position using Google Maps - Text Search and Satellite View. Using Google Maps - What's Here tool, found coordinates (final) for the closest forested area to the approximate geographic center of the beach (according to the boundaries provided in Wikimapia). Using Google Maps - Measure Distance tool, determined linear extent by measuring from the selected final coordinates at the center of the beach "Praia da Costa" to the farthest extent of the beach (also according to the boundaries provided in Wikimapia) (-20.329153, -40.272858). Input linear extent (1348.0 m), coordinate precision (0.00001 degrees), datum (WGS84), and measurement error (0.5 m) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius (according to Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Named Place: Defined area).
