Grade, northeastern portion of San Bernardino
Mountains. Vicinity of Jacoby Canyon. Elevation about
2875 feet. Steep slopes, rocky ridge, northeast facing
slopes. Rock apparently granitic; soil sandy.
Open juniper - pinyon pine woodland, dry. Woody
dominants included: Juniperus, Pinus monophylla,
Ephedra viridis, Quercus, Ceanothus crassifolius,
Artemisia tridentata ssp. vaseyana, Purshia tridentata,
Prunus fasciculata. Flowers white; occasional small
tree 4 meters tall, many-branched.
