Some lower cauline leaves with petioles 2-4 cm long. Plants growing away from bitterbrush shrubs had sessile and short-petiolate leaves (Goodrich 28937). The longer petioles of shaded plants are indicated to be induced by shading, and this feature is indicated to be of no taxonomic value. S.
