GUYANA. Cuyuni-Mazaruni. Cara Creek, along the banks and on small
islands in creek, to 5°32'50.3"N, 60°53'47.9"W and 506 m elevation
(south of Camp 4); tributary of Kako River, near border with Venezuela.
543 m. 5°32'43"N 60°54'9.8"W. Islands formed from gravel bars, prone
to scouring, rich in herbs and shrubs. Rock substrate of pink sandstone
and red chert,. Plant flabelliform, herbaceous. Growing in rocky sandbars.
Plant base cream. Leaves to 30cm. Inflorescence scapose, to 0.5m. Head
elongate. Bracts green, brown on margins. Flowers yellow, opening in
AM. Rare. Silica sample.
