GARDNER. Cells single or united by strands of transparent jelly, slightly elongated, dividing in one direction, with cell wall so thin as to be seen with difficulty, pale bluish green. Cells .003 mm. diam., .006 mm. long just before dividing, pairs up to .008 mm. long. Between Synechococcus and Synechocystis, but to be placed rather with the former genus, and differing from other species of Synechococcus in diameter and proportional dimensions. W. A. SETCHELL.
