W of Catamayo (3°59fS; 79°21fW). Dry valley. 1446
Spiny tree with small buttresses and a swollen,
belly-like trunk. Bark smooth, gray. Flowers and
fruits clustered at the ends of leafless branches.
Young leaves emerging, 5-7-palmate, Petals white,
yellowish at base. Ovary ringed with red. Anther
column white. Anthers yellow.
