Habitat
Campo cerrado (a type of scrubby woodland originally) on upland, or very rarely forest. open marsh or dense secondary forest ("mata") along the streams. This habitat: dryish soil, open transition belt between cerrado & marsh.

Description
Shrub, several trunks from base, 3 m. tall, up to 3.5 cm dbh. Fl. 6 cm diam. when fully open. Petals light violet, filaments whitish with violet hairs, anthers violet. Phenology of specimen: Flower.
