Vitis rupestris Scheele
Fayette Co.: Youghiogheny River drains into the Ohio River.
Population is outside South Connelsville, heading southeast from
town, 0.8 mi along the railroad tracks. Elev. m (900 ft), no legal
sections marked on South Connelsville Quad., N39.97 W79.58, on
river 120 m south of Rod and Gun Club firing range which is the
‘Quarry’ marked on Quad. map. Ramets on east bank of river across
from intermittent unnamed stream confluence with the river, river
flow is 351°. There are 2 clusters of 50 total plants separated by 14 m
space: 20 plants at the downstream end in a 7 m area and 29 plants
upstream in an 8 m area. Several plants have extreme symptoms of
disease: reduced vigor and necroses. Hybrids present in population.
Substrate cobbles with fine sand. Assoc, spp.: vegetation overgrown,
large Salix, Platanus, Comus, Salix shrubs, Vitis labrusca, Vitis
riparia, Vitis hybrids present, Rubus, Epilobium, Lamium, Viola, and
Elymus.
