VAL VERDE CO.: stems several from base, erect; corolla
orange-red; locally common in mix of low shrubs and
perennials in shallow gravelly-stony clay in bottom of open
canyon bottom recently cleared of juniper and many other
woody plants, on site underlain by Salmon Peak Limestone,
both sides of road in Little Satan Canyon ca. 2.2-2.3 airmiles
NE of its mouth at Devils River, ca. 9.4 airmiles W of jet.
US Rt. 277 and US Rt. 377 N of Del Rio, at N29°43’17.2”,
W100°58’48.9”. Satan Canyon Quadrangle. Elev. 1380 ft.
NC part of Devils River State Natural Area Southern Unit.
Associates included Aristida sp., Croton dioicus, Heliotropium torreyi,
Tiquilia canescens.
