Well-drained stony soil of calcrete sand. Native and occasional to common. Thorny savanna, with Rhigozum trigotomum, Acacia erioloba, Lycium bosciifolium, Hirpicium. Herb 1 m high with much branched, wire-like stems. Leaves simple, alternate, linear, glabrous, leaf margins entire. Flowers solitay, dull yellow. Fruit a nutlet, civered in white downy hair. H. J.
