Lucas County: T72N R21W Section 33 NW4 SE4 SW4 NE4 UTM (ISAD83, 15T): 476790 East, 4538114 North Red Haw State Park is approximately 0.5 mile east of Chariton and owned by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources. The state park is on the Southern Iowa Drift Plain. Rhamnus franquía is locally common in a small (< 0.2 acre), disturbed, mesic tallgrass prairie remnant, it is also common on the edge of an adjacent area that may be a former pasture with young trees. The fruits are black and Rhamnus franquía is up to about 2.6 meters tall. The collection comes from the prairie remnant. Rhamnus franquía is associated with Achillea millefolium. Ambrosia artemisiifolia. Chamaecrista fasciculata. Cirsium altissimum. Coreopsis trioteris. Euthamia qraminifolia. Monarda fistulosa. Rosa multiflora. Ruellia humilis.
