a naturalized (re-naturalized?) population derived from trees
planted in several parts of the ranch decades ago, this from
edge of post oak - eastern red cedar - yaupon woodlands on
upper slope of rocky hill of Reklaw Sandstone, on soils
mapped as moderately deep, well drained gravelly sandy
loam (Jedd Series, Ultic Paleustalfs), near house on E side of
Hogan Ranch, ca. 4.0 airmiles WSW of jet. of St. Rt. 304
and St. Rt. 713 at Delhi, at N29°48’10.1”, W097°27’23.9”.
Elev. 630-645 ft.
Woody associates included Callicarpa americana, Ilex vomitoria, Juniperus virginiana,
Quercus marilandica, Q, stellata, Toxicodendron sp., Vaccinium arboreum
