Fabaceae Lupinus aff. hyacinthinus E.L.Greene Vicinity of PACIFICO MOUNTAIN: upper northerly slope of major flat-topped ridge ca 680 m due W of Sheep Camp Spring. T4NR11W section 33; near 34°23'12.5"N 118°0237"W; elevation ca. 6720 feet. Coniferous forest, with occasional openings, on decomposed granite of N slope, with Pinus jeffreyi, P. lambertiana, Abies concolor, and Quercus chrysolepis being the dominant trees. Perennial, similar in general appearance to No. 7974 (L. excubitus johnstonii) up on the flats, but strictly herbaceous above-ground; leaves silvery-green, the leaflets not as tightly cupped as 7974', corolla 12.5-13 mm long, purplish-lavender with darker purplish veins; banner with pale yellow center patch, this with fine grayish-violet speckling; back of banner only very sparsely pilosulose, subglabrous; keel cream-white, apparently glabrous. Local understory associates include Monardella aff. cinerea, Chrysothamnus nauseosus, Eriogonum wrightii subscaposwn, Elymus elymoides, Chaenactis santolinoides, Poa secunda, Machaeranthera canescens, Agoseris retrorso, etc. Timothy S.
