PALO PINTO CO.: common in cedar elm - Ashe juniper
woodland on moderately steep NW-facing slope underlain
by and with exposures of Pennsylvanian limestone, on soils
mapped as deep, well drained, moderately alkaline clay (Set
series, Typic Calciustolls), along old channel of Palo Pinto
Creek on S side of F. M. 2372, ca. 2.4-2.5 airmiles W of jet.
St. Rt. 16 and R. M. 2372 at Strawn, at N32°32.959’,
W098°32.355’. Palo Pinto Mountains State Park. Elev.
1070-1080 ft.
Associates included Celtis sp., Cheilanthes alabamensis, Coraus
drummondii, Forestiera pubescens, Fraxinus texensis, Juniperus ashei,
Lonicera albiflora, Matelea reticulata, Opuntia leptocaulis, 0. lindheimeri,
Parthenocissus quinquefolia, Prunus mexicana, Quercus buckleyi,
Sideroxylon lanuginosum, Sophora affinis, Tragia brevispica, Ulmus
crassifolia.
