University of Idaho Herbarium Flora of Idaho Lupinus albifrons Benth. [Fabaceae] LEWIS CO: Nez Perce Indian Reservation, 3 miles E on Craigmont on Hwy 62, elevation ca. 3450 feet. Disturbed prairie remnant, adjacent to cultivated field Slope 20-30%, aspect N. Parent material basalt. Very moist dark, clayey soil. Associated with Arrhenatherum elatius, Koeleria macrantha, Poa bulbosa, Phleum arvense, Wyethia amplexicaulis, Rosa canina, Cirsium arvense, Sidalcea oregana. Plant 4-5 dm from slender taproot. Leaves silvery pubescent beneath and above, also stem. Flowers blue-purple, loosely racemose. Center of banner white or yellow, darkening to purple upon pollination.
