United States of America. California. Mono Co. Sierra Nevada, Inyo National Forest, western slope of Mammoth Mountain, near Reds Lake.

Habitat
Coniferous subalpine forest, with Pinus contorta var, murrayana (many young trees). On pumice, much open soil.

Description
Tree ca. 20 m. tall, with 3 trunks, d.b.h. 3-45 cm., branching low as it stands virtually free from competitors. Foliage colour variable from dark green to glaucous, the latter especially in young trees and in higher parts of the crown, not on shaded shoots. Phenology of specimen: Fruit.
