Volcan Poas? Hwy #120 ca. 1.9 mi. south of
the Varablanca restaurant road fork. Steep
overgrown roadside banks with Alnus, Senecio
and Gunnera;at an elev. of 6700 ft.
Erect shrub 1.5-2 m. tall. Petals very pale
pink or white, antepetalous anthers red,
antesepalous ones and all appendages
yellow. Hypanthia with glandular trichomes..
In profuse flower.
