  • Georeferencing Method

Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Assumed that "Rio Quinini" was a misspelling of Rio Cuiuni. Georeferenced to the approximate midpoint of Rio Negro between the village of Moreira and Rio Cuiuni. Used Google Maps - Earth View to locate Rio Negro between the village of Moreira and Rio Cuiuni. Used the Google Maps - Measure Distance Tool to measure a straight line between the approximate geographic center of the shoreline of Moreira and the approximate geographic center of the mouth of Rio Cuiuni (confluence of Rio Cuiuni and Rio Negro), then halved this distance to find the midpoint of the line. Chose a point along Rio Negro nearest to the midpoint of this line; used Google Maps - What's Here Tool to find the coordinates of the approximate midpoint of the river, along the adjacent southern shore. Used the Google Maps - Measure Distance Tool to find the linear extent by measuring from the selected coordinates to the farthest extent of the segment of river. Input coordinates, linear extent (29780.0 m), and measurement error (2.5 m) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius.
