Description
Pileus 2.5-6 cm broad, convex to plano-convex to plane, with greenish yellow pulverulenceover a pale reddish ground, pulverulence soon becoming areolate patches. Flesh pale yellow (3A2), bluing slightly, up to 10 mm thick. Tubes depressed, maize yellow when young, greenish yellow (3C5,4) with age, bluing; pores concolorous, staining likewise, developing brownish tones with age. Stipe 3-7 cm long, 5-15 mm brad, ±equal to tapering below, covered with bright chrome yellow to bright greenish yellow pulverulence, pale buff above annular zone, frequently developing red stains both within and with out. N.B. Close to P. ravenellii, but the USA material doesn't seem to develop the green areolate pulverulence and is definitely more red in pileus with age.
