Habitat
Hillslope, gentle undulating topography. Primary forest rich in palms.

Description
Massive solitary monoecious palm, 15-20 m tall. Stem at base ca. 1 m diam. with a large root boss, d.b.h. 35 cm.Inflorescence interfoliar. Young fruit covered in purplish-brown scales. Mature fruit found under the parent tree with massively thickened endocarp. Phenology of specimen: Flower, Fruit.
