ULMACEAE
Shrub 7ft tall, locally common, fruit becoming dull orange,
bark mostly smooth. In a shrubby opening in a forest on a
steep west-facing slope over shale, in rocky/loamy soil
(Lordstown-Amot complex, very steep; coarse-loamy to
loamy-skeletal, mixed, active, mesic Typic to Lithic
Dystrudepts). Growing with Ageratina altissima, Allium
cernuum, Anemone virginiana, Apios americana, Asplenium
platyneuron, Bromus tectorum, Carya glabra, Celastrus sp.,
Celtis occidentalis, Centaurea maculosa, Conyza canadensis,
Elaeagnus angustifolia, Elymus hystrix, E. villosus, Erigeron
philadephicus, Fraxinus americana, Helianthus divaricatus
(rare), Hesperis matrionalis, Hypericum perforatum, Juglans
nigra, Juniperus virginiana, Lactuca canadensis (?),
Ligustrum sp., Lonicera * bella, Medicago lupulina,
Monarda fistulosa, Parthenocissus sp., Penstemon hirsutus,
Potentilla recta, Prunus virginiana, Pycnanthemum incanum,
Quercus rubra, Rhamnus cathartica, Rhus aromatica, Rubus
occidentalis, Solidago juncea, Trifolium campestre (?),
Verbascum thapsus. Along the W side of Rock Cabin Road,
