Shrubby tree to about 3 meters tall. Leaves have gold flecks on
the underside. Flowers are pistillate and not showy or colorful.
Plant with a pleasant aroma.
Between Old Bight and the Deep South Turn Around, found along a well
road that runs west of the main road. Patchy vegetated dry evergreen
scrub that is close to the fresh water lens. Area dominated by Myrica
cerifera, Metopium toxiferum, Sabal palmetto

Limbs are boiled and the decoction given to a new mother to drink and
bathe in for 9 days after she gives birth. Said to bring all the "clots and
bruises out of you" = placenta and afterbirth. Also drunk for menstrual
cramps.
